Secondary research:
The use of secondary data collection is often used to help align the focus of large scale primary research. When focusing on secondary research, the researcher may realize that the exact information they were looking to uncover is already available through secondary sources. This would effectively eliminate the need and expense to carry out there own primary research.
Target audience of thriller movies:
Some common themes in most thriller films are violence, psychological issues. These both may be problems for younger audiences, but they may also be too intellectually demanding for younger audiences. Because of this, the thriller genre as a whole I often aimed at more adult audiences. However, there are several sub-genres to the thriller genre, each of which often having different target audiences. Horror thrillers are often less intellectually demanding, and are therefore aimed at young adults, from mature teenagers onwards. The common themes of violence and mature themes may be unsuitable for audiences younger than this for example 'insidious'.
Conventions and emotions
I used young people because its more conventional for a thriller film and the audience expect young people to be capable for murder. I also used blood and a knife which is conventional to a thriller film. Therefore, Blood and knife create tension and will make the audience feel disturbed. The young characters will make the audience evoke emotion.
What did I want to attract:
For my thriller movie I wanted to attract the young teenagers 15-18 because I believe that they will have similar interests, expectations, similar aged characters and similar themes. For example aged 15-18 teenagers will want to see violence but limited violence which also the audience to see limited disturbing cuts but they will be find of just seeing blood everything s a n iconography.
Questionnaire
I carried out a questionnaire to help me gain more knowledge on what my audience enjoys.
For example, from the results I have received now I know what sub- genres
the public is interested. Due to my results I am going to make my thriller a
crime thriller because more people will enjoy it and watch it.
In order to get feedback from my target audience I asked questions that will be useful to me to do my thriller movie:
1.Would you classify thriller as your top 3 genres? (yes/no)
This question is beneficial because as a group we would roughly want to know how famous the genre thriller is.
2. would you want the antagonist to be hidden identity? (yes/no)
We have asked this question because we want to discover what kind of feeling would the audience want because a hidden identity antagonist would cause tension but however a antagonist that isn't hidden identity wouldn't cause as much tension.
3. What gender would you expect the antagonist to be? And why?
This question has helped us choose our protagonist wisely because the having a male antagonist is very stereotypical and the still enjoy seeing the antagonist as a male.

I have gathered my results by putting them into graphs because it will allow me to understand my results in more detail because its a simple clear form to put my results in.

- Need to say what your graphs & results told you and how this affected your product and why you made any changes
- No detail on focus group at all, what was the point / what did you learn what do the comments tell you about your work?
- No conclusion - Do you feel you made a successful thriller for your target audience?
